Drawing and Painting Holidays Sicily

Echoes of ancient civilisations are to be found in every part of this extraordinary island. Sicily has been occupied over the centuries by Greeks, Romans, Bizantines, Arabs, Normans and Spanish all of whom have left traces and influences which can be seen in the Sicily of today. This is a very special part of Italy, an island with a unique sense of mystery and romance. Archaeologically this is a fascinating country. The landscape is varied and dramatic, and the Sicilian people are friendly and welcoming.

Our 7 day workshops are based in the south west region at Selinunte, one of the largest archaeological parks in Europe, the old city dating back to 7th century BC. The 10 day workshops will cover both Selinunte and surrounding areas including the fishing harbours at Sciacca or San Vito Lo Capo.
Selinute:
The ruins of this ancient city are amongst the most striking archaeological sites in the Mediterranean. Excavations have brought to light eight ancient Greek temples, with classical Doric columns and fortifications, dating back to the 6th century BC. By any stretch of the imagination the landscape here is impressive.
The romantic ruins overlooking the sea instil a sense of history, a feeling of awe and admiration for those who built these truly amazing structures. A short talk on the history of the temples will be given by keen historian and artist Andrew Brownfoot. Castelvetrano:
A farming and fishing town situated on a hill terrace 200 metres above sea level, 3km from the town is the Romanesque Norman church of Trinita' di Delia
