The ‘Costiera Amalfitana' is an area of sensational coastal scenery of limestone cliffs, serpentine roads and terraced lemon groves. Hillside villages and remote monasteries have long been connected by a series of ancient footpaths which are popular excursion routes for walkers.
Visitors are rewarded with stunning views of the Mediterranean coastline whose ‘Lattari' mountains rise nearly 5,000 feet steeply from the deep blue sea. The coast is dotted with old fishing villages in secluded coves, nestling in the hillside. Wildflowers such as broom and citrus rose decorate the slopes in spring, and cyclamen carpet the woods in the autumn.
It is hardly surprising to discover that the Roman Emperor Tiberius moved his court to Capri, that the Russian dancer Rudolf Nureyev owned an island near Positano and the Americam writer Gore Vidal chose Ravello for his home.
Our painting holiday workshop in Amalfi promises to be truly inspirational and enjoyable. Phil Hobbs will be your tutor and at the moment we are working with Phil to create an interesting and varied itinerary. Needless to say our high standards will not be compromised in any way - the accommodation will be minimum 3* and all meals, wine and excursions are included.
